Where my friends grew up wondering what the hell "wacky tobaccy" was......and then realizing the teachers were telling them NOT TO SMOKE POT!

I grew up in Alaska and go back several times a year to see family. It was a wonderful place to grow up and everyone is very friendly. It's truly a beautiful place - the snow caped mountains, the clean air, the water you can drink right from the tap and all the wonderful wildlife. We've got the northern lights, salmon fishing and more. Of course we have volcanoes and earthquakes, we're in the ring of fire, but I feel the earthquakes are much worse in California than Alaska. I feel everyone should visit Alaska at least once in their lifetime and experience the beauty for themselves. If you love camping, fishing, wildlife and the great outdoors come see Alaska. The state is truly an American treasure.

Oh - and when I was growing up there - pot was legal for your own personal use. You had a certain amount you could grow or have on you. The law has since been overturned though. We're the rebel state. :)

i grew up there too (I went to the cool school... Eve went to our lame-ass rival school). I was a goody-goody (read: nerd), so I didn't know about the pot laws.

But a few things that I loved about Alaska... the long days in the summer... the long nights in the winter... the northern lights... the fact that when i was 16, a lot of my friends had pilots licences and planes... salmon fishing down in the Kenai Peninsula... on a clear day, you could see Denali (Mt. McKinley), which was like, 200 miles away... seeing moose in my backyard... glaciers... is that enough?

oh, and speaking of the northern lights, did you know that last year, there was such a powerful display that they were visible as far south as San Diego?

and in case you ever make it up there, and you wanna take pictures, check this place out...
