Arizona - "The Grand Canyon State"

Apul M'Diquad - "Well, Arizona has that Joe McNally guy."

Joe - "Indeed, Arizona does have me. We also have this cool little tourist spot, as well as awesome sunsets, a neato magazine, and these damn letters."

Arizona is also the only place where Joshua Trees are indigenous.

I lived in AZ for 9 years... never saw the Grand Canyon. But I did manage to make it to a few of the vortexes at Sedona (absolutely spectacular), the Petrified Forest, the Painted Desert, and the London Bridge. Also, Sedona has the only McDonald's in the world that doesn't have golden arches - they're teal.

As far as other things I love about AZ... well, I love the desert weather. I love that in the winter, if you really wanted to see snow, you could just drive 2 hrs to Flagstaff... and then make it back home in time for dinner. I love seeing saguaros everywhere. I love that every apt complex has a pool. it's just a great place to live.

The University of Arizona campus in Tucson, fondly called "Redbrick U" because of the architecture. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Canyon de Chelly. Montezuma's Castle. Mt. Lemmon.

Arizona is the state that brought us Alice Cooper.

Meteor Crater. Yeah, it's a tourist trap, but it's pretty impressive.

The night sky from Kaibab National Forest.

The following are based on my living in Tucson for the last 8 years, and may or may not apply to the rest of the state :-)

Desert nights in the summer (Tucson was MADE for night people!!)

24 hour Mexican food everywhere

We've got a Gay Republican Combat Vet Congrisscritter here!

Home of the comic strip 'Red Meat'

1 hour flights/$100 plane tickets to LA if you feel like visiting a really big city

Yes, the cactus everywhere is awesome!

Almost all Westerns were filmed here

just over an hour drive to Mexico (you don't care about prescription drug reform when mexico is an hour away :-)

LOTS of bandwidth (Arizona tends to be a test market for telecom services, if the equipment can stand the heat here, it can handle it everywhere)

Did I mention the desert nights?
