Haven't been to church yet this morning, so this isn't the "what did I learn" message. But it might be.
Ms. Britney may not have been one of those people whining about "preserving the sanctity of marriage" by banning homosexuals from legally tying the knot, but she gives us a fine example of how much latitude the law gives to the word "sanctity".
Ya think maybe a "joke marriage" might be a wee bit irritating to a gay couple who truly love each other and who can't form a legal union? Or who face such strong opposition to it that Congress thinks we need a constitutional amendment to prevent such horror?
Nah! It was, as Campbell Brown put it on the Today show this morning, "a fun story."

What struck me was the apparent inability of the poor girl (and I sorta mean that) to shun tackiness, even when getting married. I mean, a ball cap, jeans, and a hotel doorman walking her down the aisle?
*grumble*
She'll get a divorce aa an annullment in like three days...

Sheesh! We eloped, no guests, and I still went for the off-white lacy dress (I was married once before, so no snow-white for me!)
But yes...the fact that someone can get married as a "joke", and have expensive lawyers to annull it three days later...that should be upsetting to gay people who want to legally wed.
Why do have to HAVE Britney Spears around, anyway? The chick can't even sing (JMHO!)!
No, you're right, she can't really sing.
You know, I hadn't even considered this aspect of it until Sol brought it up. I may have to modify my entry about it now. :-)
