Book Meme

Oddly enough, I've never been tagged for this one before. But someone in need of monkeys choosed me (a couple days ago, but as you may have noticed, I'm not on much lately).

  1. Grab the nearest book.
  2. Open the book to page 123.
  3. Find the fifth sentence.
  4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
Don’t you dare dig for that “cool” or “intellectual” book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest, then tag three people.

Well, here goes...

But that was the future, and it lay at the other end of a long warm afternoon that contained planks and ropes and ponds. The future could wait.

The future came and went in the mildly discouraging way that futures do, although Mr. Young had other things on his mind apart from muddy dresses and merely banned Adam from watching television, which meant he had to watch it on the old black and white set in his bedroom.

"Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. (Sorry, I know that's a "cool" book, but it's what's right in front of me. It was either that or one from this pile of Discworld books or "The Glorious Cause" by Jeff Shaara.)

I never tag people for this stuff. If you want to do it, have at it!

The nearest book to me is a telephone book. I guess I'll have to skip this one... :)

Ha! I think Ric the Schmuck should do his phone book and then the listings on page 123, just after line 5 might get lots of attention.

Since I don't have a blog...here it goes:

But-ter-fish (but' er fish), n., pl. -fishes, -fish. a small, flattened, edible fish found off the Atlantic COast of the U.S.

If you don't see a way to enter a comment, it's not because I don't love you. It's because they have been set to auto-close after 5 days.

Thank you, comment spammers. Thank you to hell.
