God bless DVR (and re-runs)

I love my DVR, but sometimes it needs a little help. Thanks to a tip from Geeky, I found out that it didn't record the Mythbusters Christmas special because it had a different title. So, I set it up to tape (why do we still call it "taping"?) on Saturday.

And thank Heaven it did! Else I would have missed their Christmas present to the fans--a Rube Goldberg device with Mentos in soda, robots, trains, sparks, explosions, pirates and monkeys! (Or at least I would have been stuck watching it on the internets like everyone else.)

Yeah, my Tivo missed that episode too. I heard about it, and try to record it manually, but accidentally recorded an old Christmas episode that I have already seen. It's on again next week though. I will catch it then. I love networks that replay their shows. They are so more Tivo friendly.

Do DVRs require a monthly service to work? Or can you just use it like a VCR and record at will?

Those guys have a lot of time on their hands, don't they?

Still, whicked neato.

We had Tivo envy for a long time, but I could never justify the monthly fee. Then the local cable company came out with a deal where it's only $6 per month.

Best. Toy. Ever.

"We" don't still call it taping. We young folk call it recording. It's just you geezers who call it taping. ;p

YOu didn't need to fret, Les. I ALWAYS record Mythbusters and I have a DVD burner hooked to the PVR...I think I have all their episodes recorded one way or another. Now, about those cookies.... ;)

If you don't see a way to enter a comment, it's not because I don't love you. It's because they have been set to auto-close after 5 days.

Thank you, comment spammers. Thank you to hell.
