Hops On Buying Spree
Misty Mtn - Amid rumors of an impending coaching shakeup in the minors, the Hops took advantage of the large pool of unclaimed talent on the Free Agents list. Team owner, Scott Baron, announced the team had signed 60 players to minor league contracts over the weekend. "We need to do something," Barron said. "Good gravy. Man, I've tanked completely."
With the worst record in the league at 6-14, Misty Mountain management is nervous even at this early stage in the season. "It only 20 games," said Hops manager, Smahsh Ehn'Bahsh. "Need more time to beat players into shape."
"Most of these players will be given a quick look and cut," Baron said. "It doesn't make sense to keep 50 players in AA. No one would get enough playing time. But we wanted to stake first claim to as many of these guys as possible. If nothing else, we're going to have a hell of a farm system for future seasons."
