Valinor Wins a Nail-Biter Over Hops to Become Mordor Champs
MISTY MTN - It was a classic pitcher's duel at Mountain Stadium. After the Hops tied up the Mordor Conference Championships with a 12-hit, 6-run shutout over the Vandals in Game 6, Valinor's ace, Beama Belil-Gariand (16-14, 3.87) faced off against Misty Mountain's number one starter, Elrilmer Elriawyn (17-15, 2.97) in Game 7. Elriawyn, the hard-throwing lefty, led the Mordor Conference in strikeouts with 248, while right-hander Belil-Gariand, with his mix of curves and screwballs, was 3rd with 214. Both pitchers made it through the 7th inning, Belil-Gariand giving up 4 hits, while striking out 9, and Elriawyn allowing just 2 hits and notching 6 K's. Unfortunately for the Witch King, 1 of the 2 hits he surrendered was a home run to Vandal shortstop Golloron Gladrienduil for the only run of the game. Sourk Legripper picked up his 5th save of the post-season, as the Valinor Vandals become the first SGCBL Mordor Conference Champions. They move on to battle the Wilderland Wargs for the League Championship.
