Rohan-Vandals Sign Deal

ROHAN - The Rohan RoughRiders reached a trade agreement today with the Valinor Vandals. In exchange for young starting pither, Soth Isadriend, Rohan will receive Vandal right fielder Disil Axesmith. Isadriend was signed to a minor league contract by Bree in 2003 and spent most of that season at the AAA Archet Edam, compiling a 6-9 record with a 4.37 ERA in 17 starts. A glimpse of his future was shown in his 143 strikeouts and 6 complete games. This season, Bree traded the right-hander to Rohan for Zuthor Toviel, and he is currently starting for the AA Highland Colts.

The Vandals, meanwhile, seem to be looking to the future by taking on the young pitcher and giving up their right fielder, who's $4.8 million contract expires at the end of this season. Axesmith has limited power, but hits for average, finishing 2003 with a .326 batting total--3rd best in the Mordor Conference. With his postseason average of .372, he was a key member of the team as they surprised both Isengard and Misty Mountain in the playoffs. This season, he is batting .307 with 5 homers and 32 RBI.
