Axetorturer and *Elensar win Player of the Week award
MIDDLE EARTH - Burt Axetorturer wins his 1st Player of the Week award. Shire Conference pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Burt was on fire, hitting .393 with 3 HR and 8 RBI. Mordor's pitcher Maeglin *Elensar had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Mordor Conference Player of the Week. Maeglin went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00, while fanning 16 in 17.2 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well.
Balldicer Injures Back, Out For Good!
BYWATER - Injury has claimed the career of 31-year-old Bounders closer Cork Balldicer. The face of the snarling goblin will no longer menace opposing hitters from the mound in the late innings. In what turned out to be his final game on August 3, with the bullpen exhausted, he came in to pitch a perfect 7th inning, cutting down the heart of the Wilderland order--Silverhead, Imreogorn and Imrilron. Then in the top of the 8th, he raced over to cover the bag as pinch-hitter Nirbag Giantthrottler grounded to first. Balldicer fielded the throw from Sean Radigast, getting the runner, but immediately fell to the ground in agony. Apparently, in his move to first, Cork had wrenched his back so severely that he tore a muscle. Doctors say there is nothing they can do for him, and he is definitely finished as a major league pitcher. Balldicer finished the season with a 2-4 record, 12 saves and a 4.08 ERA. For his short career, he was 10-14 with 46 saves and a 3.68 ERA. He finished 4th in saves in 2003. He is 15th all-time.
Hidush Elfbelly dominates Bywater, gives up just 2 hits

I have to give credit to him.' Elfbelly (8-4) struck out 2 and walked 1, throwing 54 of 93 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for Mirkwood was leftfielder Gandolf Gameahir, he finished with 1 hit in 4 AB, with 2 RBI. The final score of the game was 4-0.
Hobbitgobbler, Elfbelly named Pitcher of the Month

Dagorlad Shortstop Out With Injury
DAGORLAD - The Disaster will be without the services of infielder Vaor Thrarith for at least the next 10 weeks. He injured his elbow after making a throw in a game against Mordor on July 29. Physicians are pretty sure it's a ruptured ligament. The 10th round draft pick for Dagorlad in 2003 is making his 2nd trip to the DL this year. He was batting .224 with 13 HR and 41 RBI.
