Mooncutter and Lómebrildur win Player of the Week award
MIDDLE EARTH - The Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Sruulak Mooncutter, Silvan's starting third baseman. Sruulak was on fire, hitting .391 with 5 HR and 8 RBI. Sruulak has gone 92 for 401 (.229) this season, hitting 24 bombs and driving in 65 runs. He has scored 53 runs on his own. It's the 2nd time that the Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Mordor's centerfielder Thaira Lómebrildur. He hit .440 with 8 RBI and slugged 1.200 in 25 at bats.

Irontwister Wins 20th
WILDERLAND - Wilderland Wargs starter Libur Irontwister celebrated his 20th win on August 17, making him the first to accomplish the feat since teammate Dalo Bloodkiller became the first 20-game winner in League history last October. Irontwister struck out 10 Spiders, walking only 1 in his complete game, 4-3 victory. His record now stands at 20-5, and he has an ERA of 3.64. The 2-time All Star is one of only 3 pitchers to have tossed a no-hitter, his coming on September 1, 2003.

Gwialas Out for Season
BUCKLEBURY - Fairies 5th starter, Imramli "Beast" Gwialas, will miss the rest of the season with a torn back muscle. Pitching in the 3rd inning, Gwialas felt something snap. The pain was so great that the tough dwarf had to be carried from the field. In a variety of starts and relief appearances this season, he has compiled a record of 6-3 with a 3.32 ERA. Gwialas was picked up by Bucklebury in June after the Bree Cheese released him in May. He pitched with Old Forest last season. Ironically, his injury came in a game against Bree. The Fairies won, 16-0.

Another Bywater Injury, Trollsnapper Goes Down
MORIA - It was an ugly 4th inning for the Bounders in their August 17 game against the Miners at Moria. Ahead 3-0, they gave up 7 runs on 7 hits and lost a key reliever. Tonar Trollsnapper came in with the score 6-3, 2 outs and a runner on first when the first batter he faced, Burt Axetorturer, lined a shot off the pitcher's hand. Trollsnapper wound up with a broken finger and had to leave the game. Recovery will take at least 5 weeks.
