Two Towers Series Open
Fairies cut Cheese with pair of victories
BREE - Bucklebury came into town as the Wild Card team, but that didn't seem to matter much, as they swept the first 2 games of the Conference Championship Series from Bree. In Game One, Lugnar Orcback hit is 3rd homer of the postseason in the top of the 9th to break a 3-3 tie, giving the Fairies the victory. In Game Two, Bucklebury bats dominated, with the Fairies collecting 14 hits, including 3 homers. Meanwhile, rookie starter Issth Elilmalad held the Cheese to a single run, striking out 10, to secure the 9-1 victory. The series now moves to Bucklebury with the Fairies leading 2-0.
Kings and Disaster Play Tough
NUMENOR - Though Numenor is the Wild Card in Mordor, they had a better record than Dagorlad, thus finding themselves with the home field advantage. In the first 2 games, they used the home crowd spirit to squeeze out 2 victories over the Disaster. In Game One, Prilak Hammershaker outlasted Faraulf Faraiman, 3-2. Hammershaker went 7.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and striking out 8, while Faraiman went 6 innings and gave up 8 hits and struck out 7. In Game Two, Ligor Fistslammer had another start typical of his season. He only gave up 4 hits, 2 runs, and struck out 10, yet lost the game, 3-1, as his opponent, Wugush Trollthrottler, pitched a brilliant 2-hitter, striking out 12 and walking none. The series now moves to Dagorlad with the Kings up 2-games-to-none.
