Numenor Wins Series! Kings Crowned Champions!
NUMENOR - How appropriate is this? The Numenor Kings have won the Return of the King Series, thus being crowned kings of the SGCBL for 2004! It took a Game Six win in 10 innings over a tough Bucklebury team to do it. Leading 2-1 in the 9th, the Fairies tied the score when Lugnar Orcback doubled and scored on a pinch hit single by Aroron Anundir. Then, in the bottom of the 10th with 1 out, King first baseman Elrealob Elrauhil walked. Minto Gamgee-Took pinch hit for the pitcher and was plunked by Fairie reliever Imrohil Imreogast, sending Elrauhil to second. Left fielder Sarawyn Radaden walked to load the bases, bringing catcher Galelf Elvebrir to the plate. Elvebrir hit a slow roller to Eond Elruborn at second. He tried to turn the double play to end the inning, rather than taking a shot at home, but the throw from shortstop Kobur Hammermaker was too late. Elvebrir was safe, and Elrauhil scored the winning run. While it is doubtful that Elruborn would have gotten Elrauhil had he thrown home, he is an outfielder who did not play second all year, and was in the infield after a series of pinch hit and pinch run moves left Bucklebury without a backup infielder. Questions like these haunt managers in the off-season.
Congratulations to the 2004 SGCBL Champion Numenor Kings!
