Devils deal with Old Forest

DUNHARROW - Trying to relieve some of their payroll burden, the Dunharrow Devils agreed to a trade with the Merry Fellows on Saturday. In the deal, Dunharrow gets 1B Vonus Tunnelsmelter and C Kimvia Elrilas in exchange for 1B Myrtai Elvywyn and RF Gollin Galadriendel. Elvywyn, a Legolas Fielder award winner and All-Star in 2004, was acquired by the Devils in a deal with Bucklebury in June. He wound up hitting .268 with 44 HR and 129 RBI. His contract was for $7.2 million through 2007. Meanwhile, outfielder Galadriendel was pulling down $10 million for a contract that runs through 2006, yet only hit .228 with 3 HR and 11 RBI in limited playing time. Old Forest gives up Tunnelsmelter (.274, 28 HR, 83 RBI) and Elrilas (only 1 of 3 players to have won a Legolas Fielder award 2 seasons in a row). Tunnelsmelter is on the last year of his $5 million contract, and Elrilas has 2 years left on his $5 million deal. Overall, the trade saves Dunharrow $26.6 million and gives Old Forest some power in their lineup.
