Flurry of Free Agent Signings
MIDDLE EARTH - In a last push before the amateur draft, teams signed dozens of players to contracts. Some of the biggest holdouts in the offseason finally settled on a place to play for 2005, including 2-time Legolas Fielder, third baseman Gobur Foetooth and strikeout king Ligor Fistslammer. Foetooth signed a deal with Mirkwood that will pay him better than $78 million over the next 5 years, and Fistslammer joined strikeout artists Boriam Celebrin and Tavus Legithraviel and the 2003 ERA leader, Gwiborn Gorom, at Old Forest.
Other big deals included a $10 million, 5-year contract for Floror Eäril-Gaviel at Dunharrow, and Carrocks acquisition of outfielder Perian Moraden for $12 million per year for 4 years.
