Opening Week in the SGCBL!

MIDDLE EARTH - All Middle Earth was abuzz, as baseball returned to the fields of the Shire and the plains of Mordor. Opening week in the SGCBL brought few surprises, but all agreed it was good to be back at the old ball game.

Rockbinder (BRE) and *Nazgul (DUN) win P.O.W. award
MIDDLE EARTH - Ralin Rockbinder wins his 3rd Player of the Week award. Shire Conference pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. He hit .478 with 16 RBI and slugged 1.478 in 23 at bats. It's the 1st time that the Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Dunharrow's centerfielder Theodore *Nazgul. Theodore was on fire, hitting .440 with 3 HR and 7 RBI.

Stars to lose Foerender for 6 weeks, Galithrandir for season!
GREY HAVENS - Glosil Foerender, the number 4 starter for the Grey Havens Stars was injured while pitching. He suffered one of those cold-weather injuries pitchers are prone to in April, a ruptured bicep tendon. Healers say he will recover in about 6 weeks. Worse was the injury suffered by right fielder, Sarkla Galithrandir. Galithrandir broke his wrist making a diving catch in a game on April 5 and will miss the rest of the year.

Aragorn Anänd (MM) will miss 8-9 weeks
MISTY MOUNTAIN - The Hops didn't want their season to start like this, that's for sure. Misty Mountain's right-hander Aragorn Anänd will not pitch for at least 8-9 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Dead Marshes on April 7, where he left the field in the 2nd inning. Misty Mountain wasted no time and rushed him to a healing facility. Team officials were informed later that Anänd had suffered a torn tricep muscle.

INJURY NEWS
OLD FOREST - Andrew Vincent was injured while pitching. Diagnosis: Ruptured Elbow Ligament. He will be OK in about 5 weeks.

GREY HAVENS - Gollilman Garon was injured while running the bases. Diagnosis: Inflamed Hip Muscle. He will be OK in about one week.

SILVAN - Lol Fiststomper was injured while throwing a ball. Diagnosis: Stiff Shoulder. He will be OK in about 1-2 weeks.
