Dagorlad pitching staff looking to rebuild

by Ghazlakh the Abominable

DAGORLAD - Dagorlad Disaster GM Hardak Gorlab spoke to the team's activity in the pre-season trades and free agent signings. "We lost too many players to free agency in the off season. The league's new rules would’ve been nice for last season since we lost some good arms that we would have worked at keeping. Pitching got us to the playoffs last year."

That won’t necessarily be the case this year. Losing Aragorn Anand and Ligor Fistslammer to free agency hurt the starting rotation for this year's Disaster. "We’re looking for big things out of Nuumsh Gnomeraper again, and we're hoping our #2 starter Pudush Hobbitgobbler still has a couple good years in him." The other two spots, filled by Fairaulf Faraiman and Franak Derroeater look to be solid, even though Derroeater may be entering the twilight of his career. "We know Franak isn't the spring chicken he was, but he's a battler, and we know we can count on him to take his turn," said Gorlab.

Going to a four-man rotation is also a change for the Disaster. "Last year we were able to go with five and keep the inning count down. That's not a luxury we have this year. We've got some arms in Harad that, if they show promise, may come up, but we have faith in our guys," said Gorlab. After going 3-5 in the first 8 games, Gorlab indicated no one was panicking yet. "It’s way too early for that. We're still trying to get a feel for who we've got. Our numbers are pretty strong. We're hitting the ball and not giving up many earned runs."
