Numenor Sweeps Grey Havens
GREY HAVENS - Reminiscent of last year, when they swept their way into the League Championships, the Numenor Kings defeated the Grey Havens Stars in Games 3 and 4. In Game Three, the Kings broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the 8th, scoring 5 runs, to win the game, 7-2. The sweep came in Game Four, when Numenor broke a 3-3 tie in the 8th inning, going on to win, 7-3. After a day of rest, the Kings go on to face Mirkwood in their second straight Return of the King Series.
Marauders make it to the League Championships
LAKE TOWN - Tied at 1-game-each going into the 3-game series at Lake Town, Mirkwood owner, Cableman, said: "Going to be exciting... Lake Town and Mirkwood were 7-7 with each other during the regular season, go figure we are 1-1 now... " And Game Three proved how closely matched the two were! Mirkwood won the game, 8-7, in a 14-inning battle that saw each team use 7 pitchers. In Game Four, the Marauders fought back in the late innings, finally breaking a 4-4 tie in the 9th with a 2-run single by Gobur Foetooth. Then, in Game Five, Mirkwood swept Lake Town at home by winning the game, 11-6, when they exploded for a 6-run 7th inning. Mirkwood is the Shire Conference Champion and now makes its first trip to the Return of the King Series.
