Drowslammer (GDL) and Elvér (MM) win P.O.W. award
MIDDLE EARTH - The Shire Conference Player of the Week award goes to Gogak Drowslammer, one of Gondolin's best starting pitchers. Drowslammer was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 2.16. Along the way he struck out 15 in 16.2 innings. He hurled a shutout as well. The Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Galeoman Elvér, Misty Mountain's starting first baseman. Galeoman was on fire, hitting .533 with 2 HR and 9 RBI.
Maeglin Elensar fires 1-hitter against Dunharrow
DUNHARROW - Maeglin Elensar had an unexpectedly great performance against Dunharrow on April 24, pitching a 1-hitter for his 3rd shutout of the season. 'I hit the corners with all of my pitches. That helped a lot!' Elensar (3-1) struck out 9 and issued 1 BB, throwing 67 of 98 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for Minas Morgul was rightfielder Kadish Ettinripper, he finished with 2 hits in 4 AB, homering once, scoring twice and driving in 2 runs. Minas Morgul scored 4 runs on 6 hits.
Gogak Drowslammer dominates Bucklebury, gives up just one hit
BUCKLEBURY - Gondolin's Gogak Drowslammer overmatched the opposing hitters all day long. Bucklebury had no chance, collecting just one hit against the right-hander. Drowslammer (2-0) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking 2, throwing 107 pitches. 'Giving my team a chance to win is the most important thing for me. I was able to do it today.' Gondolin's third baseman Joseph Delk finished 2 for 5, blasting a homerun, hitting a double, scoring two runs. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Drowslammer. Gondolin improved its record to 14-8, scoring 4 runs on 11 hits.
Gandaugrin Gamaiborn (BUC) will miss full season
BUCKLEBURY - Bucklebury's first baseman Gandaugrin Gamaiborn will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Bucklebury and Gondolin on April 23. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment it happened. But suddenly Gamaiborn collapsed in pain and had to be carried off the field. After being taken to a local hospital, Gamaiborn was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Torn Calf Muscle. Gandaugrin has gone 20 for 62 (.323) this season, hitting 5 bombs and driving in 11 runs. He has scored 11 runs on his own.
Libur Irontwister pitches his 1st shutout of the season
MORIA - Libur Irontwister had his best stuff going on April 21, and Moria hitters were chanceless. Wilderland's right-hander fired a 2-hitter, his 1st shutout of the season. 'Pitching a great game is always a good thing. And it doesn't get much better than today.' Irontwister (2-2) struck out 7 and issued 1 BB, throwing 64 of 106 pitches for strikes. Iseolf Imreogorn helped Irontwister at the plate, he collected 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate, doubling three times, and driving in 5 runs. The final score of the game was 7-0.
Weathertop's Stargobbler out for 4-5 weeks
WEATHERTOP - Weathertop is without its ace Vriurk Stargobbler for at least 4-5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Meroman Legeolbo in a game against Numenor on April 24. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Pulled Bicep Muscle. Surgery will be performed next week. This season Stargobbler compiled an ERA of 5.04, going 2-2 in 6 starts. He fanned 28 while giving up 29 hits in 30.1 innings.
