30-30 Club Has Limited Membership
MIDDLE EARTH - In baseball, power and speed make a potent combination. Two raw measures of hitting and running prowess are homers and stolen bases. Traditionally, membership in the 30-30 club (30 HR and 30 SB in a season) is limited to a select few. In fact, since the inception of the league in 2003, only six players have reached that goal.
Bree's Ralin Rockbinder--the 2003 Frodo Rookie Award winner--has reached the 30-30 goal twice. In 2004, he hit 43 homers while stealing 60 bases (establishing the 40-40 club). Last season, he hit 42 HR and had 71 SB.
Arwildoc Belebrindil of Bree also accomplished the feat twice. He hit 34 homers and stole 56 bases in 2004. He hit 37 HR and had 68 SB in 2005.
Another Bree player, 2-time MVP Thaira Lómebrildur, had 44 HR and 39 SB in 2005, almost making it to the 40-40 club.
2004 Frodo Rookie Theo Nering of Numenor hit 30 HR and had 61 SB in his inaugural season.
2005 Sam Gamgee Batter, Isszava Eliondel of Grey Havens, joined the club in 2005 by hitting 43 HR and swiping 30 bases.
And Bywater's Vorzava Tinond hit 31 HR and had 32 SB in 2005.
