Foetooth and Eärämbor win Player of the Week award
MIDDLE EARTH - Gobur Foetooth from Mirkwood wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Shire Conference. Gobur was on fire, hitting .563 with 3 HR and 8 RBI. Gobur has gone 99 for 297 (.333) this season, hitting 19 bombs and driving in 63 runs. He has scored 65 runs on his own. He's 3rd in the Shire Conference in batting, 9th in homeruns and 7th in RBI! The Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Flordor Eärämbor, Rohan's starting second baseman. Flordor was on fire, hitting .529 with 2 HR and 5 RBI.
Gobur Foetooth clubs five hits in a game
RIVENDELL - Gobur Foetooth is among the best pure hitters in the game, but his 5 hit performance on July 10 seemed to surprise even himself. A pitch from Gandilgol Eowül in the 7th inning left his bat for a solo homerun, landing 389 feet from home plate in right field. In the 9th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Gandilgol Eowül. He had singles in the 1st , in the 3rd and in the 4th inning (one RBI). Gobur did drive in 4 while scoring 3 runs on his own. This season has been a good one for him so far, as he has 99 hits in 297 at bats, resulting in a .333 batting average. Mirkwood improved its record to 49-37, scoring 11 runs on 17 hits.
Zuthor Toviel pitches 1-hit shutout against Gondolin
GONDOLIN - Gondolin's hitters looked uncomfortable, and Bree's Zuthor Toviel didn't help them. The right-hander fired his 2nd shutout of the season, a 1-hitter on July 8. Toviel (8-5) struck out 5 and issued 2 BB, throwing 51 of 89 pitches for strikes. 'I was hitting my spots. Now I'll start concentrating on my next start, and hopefully it will work again.' The hitting star for Bree was catcher Deagol *Fishslapper, he collected 2 hits in 4 trips to the plate, going deep twice, scoring two runs and driving in 4 runs. Bree scored 10 runs on 13 hits.
Tanta Stinkblossom fires 1-hitter against Numenor
MISTY MOUNTAIN - Misty Mountain's lefty Tanta Stinkblossom will never forget this day. The 24-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 1-hitter, against Numenor on July 6. 'I was hitting my spots. Now I'll start concentrating on my next start, and hopefully it will work again.' Stinkblossom (9-4) struck out 6 and walked 2, throwing 68 of 110 pitches for strikes. Salir Silverbinder helped Stinkblossom at the plate, he finished 2 for 3, hitting a homerun, scoring twice. Misty Mountain improved its record to 41-41, scoring 2 runs on 7 hits.
Siloja Glebrildur punishes Bucklebury with four hits, cycle
CARROCK - Siloja Glebrildur hits 'em where they ain't. Bucklebury certainly agrees as Carrock's leftfielder unloaded four hits and hitting for the cycle on July 6. His 1st hit, a two-run homerun off Issth Elilmalad in the 1st inning, cleared the fence in left field. His 2nd hit was a RBI double off Issth Elilmalad in the 6th inning. A single in the 8th off Sourk Legripper accounted for his 3rd hit. His 4th hit was a triple off Imrohil Haleogast in the 10th inning. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Siloja scored 3 runs, and he collected 3 RBI as well! He now has a total of 85 hits this season, accounting for a .280 batting average. He becomes the 11th player in league history collect at least a single, double, triple and a homerun in a single game. On 5/29/2006, Ralin Rockbinder was the last player to hit for the cycle.
