Two Towers Series: Games 3, 4 and 5
Mirkwood takes 3-2 lead in series, Archers Debuugger injured
LAKE TOWN - The Mirkwood Marauders took 2-of-3 games in Lake Town to gain a 3-2 series advantage over the Archers. Meanwhile, in a blow to the Archers' playoff hopes, MVP candidate Silas Debuugger was injured in Game 4. He will definitely miss the rest of the series. In Game 3, Mirkwood's Deneadur dominated the Archers for 7.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, striking out 11. In the 9th, Debuugger made things interesting with a grand slam off Niggek Giantslammer, but Disin Axesmith put the fire out, striking out Arweogast Belaraviel to end the game. Game 4 belonged to Lake Town. The Archers really went to town on Mirkwood starter Gamialf. They got 8 runs off him in 1.2 IP and that was it. The final score was 18-2. In Game 5, Mirkwood's Goriborn shut down the Archers, giving up 1 run on 5 hits in 8.1 IP, striking out 8. Meanwhile, the Marauders scored 4 in the first inning and 3 in the 7th for the easy victory. Going back to Mirkwood, the Marauders only need to win 1 of the last 2 games to re-claim their Shire Conference crown.
Numenor struggles to stay alive
ROHAN - With the RoughRiders taking 2 games in Numenor, things started out rough for the Kings. In Game 3 it got even worse, as Legeron Iseomer allowed only 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 10 and walking none, defeating the Kings 2-1. Genus Chiselsnapper got his 4th HR of the playoffs for 1 of Rohan's runs. The other came in the 7th when Rafur Rockback stole third and a throwing error by Armormaker allowed Rockback to score. Down 3-games-to-0, the Kings found themselves needing to win 4 games in a row! In Game 4, Numenor opened up with a 3-HR inning, scoring 5 runs, and defeating the RoughRiders 8-5. Finally, in Game 5, Dolok Bonemangler turned in his 2nd dominating performance of the series, striking out 10, walking none, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits in 8 IP. Radaden got his 4th HR of the playoffs in the 4th inning to break a 2-2 tie, sending the series back to Numenor with Rohan leading 3-2.
