MISTY MTN - Hops minor league prospect Nunk "Gnu" Gnomedragger became the first player in league history to learn all eight fielding positions with his successful turn at catcher at the end of this season. Originally a free agent with knowledge of four positions -- 2B, 3B, CF and RF -- Lake Town signed him and later traded him to the Cheese in 2003. Given his enormous ability to learn, the youngster then spent the next several seasons in the Cheese's farm system, acquiring all remaining fielding positions save catcher, which he'd just started learning when the Cheese traded him to the Hops in May for Wilibald Fumlefot. As the season ended, the experiment was deemed a success as Gnomedragger had spent a sufficient amount of time to attain his goal of being the first all-around player.

Word on the grapevine is that Hops management may experiment and give the youngster a shot at pitcher, but that remains to be seen. Congratulations to Gnomedragger!
