2006 Season Ends, Mirkwood Repeats as Champs!
Marauders defeat Rohan in 5 games
MIRKWOOD - The Mirkwood Marauders have become the league's first repeat champions by defeating the Rohan RoughRiders in the Return of the King Series. Mirkwood swept the middle 3 games of the series after returning home from Rohan with a 1-1 split. In Game 3, despite giving up 6 walks in 7 innings, Geadriel Gamialf did not allow a run. Meanwhile, homers by Ballscarer and Foetooth in the 4th and by Smeand and Faromli in the 6th gave Mirkwood all the cushion they'd need. Genus Chiselsnapper hit his 6th HR of the postseason in the 9th to give the RoughRiders some hope, but Disin Axesmith came in and got the last 2 outs for his 5th playoff save. Game 4 saw Mirkwood pitcher Denaumir Deneadur strike out 20 Rohan batters!! This is the new single game record for the league. Finally, in game 5, Mirkwood's Dryadpoker outpitched Legeron Iseomer for the 3-1 victory, giving the Marauders their 2nd SGCBL title.
