2008 - The Year of the Faerie

Bucklebury
By Peroido Baggins

BUCKLEBURY - But for now, lets just focus on the 2007 season.

I have been lucky enough to be granted a press conference with the much feared yet highly misunderstood manager of the Bucklebury Fairies, Xade.

So Xade, I've been hearing rumours around the mill that the fairies are going to be a force to be reckoned with come 2008, but I'm curious, how is the 2007 season coming along?

"Well, you sees here, we has been working real hard here at Bucklebury to becomes a premier batting line-up, and I believes that this year will see the Faeries earn themselves some respect from the enemy pitchers. I haves some high hopes from some of our younger prospects. The formidable Mawaan, Foxburr, Falathion, Mandicer, Peatfingers... the list it goes on. Team that with somes of our more experienced hitters like Swordcutter and Elarar, and you'll find yourselves up against a very scary hitting line-up. One that will be scary for years to come... At least they's better be. They's know the price of failure, just look at 'The Cap'. Ha ha ha ha..."

So with the 2007 season dedicated to putting together some resemblance of a pitching squad, xade looks to be doing fairly well to be delivering his promise to the people of Bucklebury that they will once again be enjoying Post Season cheer by the end of 2008.

"Well, afters I tooks over the squad backs at the ends of the '05 season, I's thoughts to myself. I'm a born and bred Buckleburian. We's deserves better. After the shambles the team was left in from its former owner, I's knew I would have to do somethings to bring this glorious club back to where's it's belongs. So I mades a promise. The playoffs by 08."

So that's where we are. Bucklebury look to be making good progress in their hitting, Xade is still as menacing as ever, and I'm not wearing concrete boots so it all looks to be looking good. Let us wish these brave fairies a little luck in their '07 season shall we?
