Witch Kings Open Up Their Pockets

WEATHERTOP - The Witch Kings have not had much to crow about in the last couple of seasons. In their first year, as the Valinor Vandals, they won the Goblin Division and took the Mordor Conference title, losing the Return of the King series in 7 games to Wilderland. That was 2003. Since then, the team has finished no closer than 32 games back. The move to Weathertop in 2005 didn't help matters, as the combination of fan backlash, high ticket prices and losing records took their toll on the bottom line.

Hoping to turn things around, Witch King ownership went into this off-season with a mission to get the talent needed to compete. Today, they signed a trio of players that are hoped to fill those needs. Arweogast Belaraviel, one of the league's premiere hitters, signed for $12 million per year for 3 years. For Belaraviel, who turned 36 in January, this will probably be his last team. Also signed were outfielder Gorema Gollailob and infielder Badur Belewyn. Gollailob, who ha hit 40 HR and had 100 RBI each of the last 3 seasons, signed a 5 year, $13 million deal. Belewyn, the slick-fielding second baseman, will get $12 million for the next 3 seasons.

Isengard signed pitcher Vriurk Stargobbler to a contract of $8.5 million per year for 4 years, RF Foignar Cavernmaker for $1,250,000 per year for 3 years, and 1B Thuah Lómymbor for $575,000 per year for 2 years.

Lake Town got pitcher Gorilf Golledoc for $7 million per year for 3 years, and RF Fikak Daggerprodder for $2 million per year for 3 years, and CF Gandolf Gameahir for $700,000 per year, for 3 years.

Dagorlad inked a deal with pitcher Borun Celül for $5.5 million per year for 4 years.

Gondolin picked up 1B Vatok Thräthien for $5 million per year for 3 years.

Numenor signed pitcher Saroma Radearon to a contract of $3.1 million per year for 4 years.

Old Forest got pitcher Biagorn Belöndir signed to a contract of $3.5 million per year for 3 years.

Dead Marshes signed C Boriron Celil-Galdur to a contract of $1.01 million per year for 3 years.

Minas Morgul got C Dung Brainchoker for $1 million per year for 2 years.

Carrock got 3B Euhil Elrudriel signed to a contract of $300,000 per year for 1 years.
