MIRKWOOD - The Marauders have embarked on their 2007 season with renewed vigor and determination. They took some time to relax and enjoy the fruits of their back-to-back victories of the Return of The King Series by skipping the Free Agent signings altogether. Then they met back up at the Woodland Field and began practicing. Manager Thranduil Elvenking has a steely determiniation and resolve to prove ha can run the team better without the meddling of GM and Owner Cableman. As the players can attest, the practice sessions have been brutal and unrelenting.
This year during Spring Training he had all the minor league players practicing with the Major Leaguers to give them all a taste of the harsh reality of what his management style will be like. There are rumors that no less than 11 minor league players asked to be traded or released outright. This reporter hasn't been able to confirm that rumor, but I will not rest until the truth is discovered. Further rumor has it that the majority of the players asked to go to play for BranMorda where they felt they wouldn't have to work as hard.
Manager Thranduil Elvenking refused to comment on the complaining players, but said in a brief statement; "I would like to say that the Marauders have had a very good spring training camp and the majority of the players worked hard and showed some improvement. We should have a very competitive and a very exciting team this season, the fans will be rewarded with great games this year." In true Elven fashion Elvenking steered clear of any predictions due to the jinx factor. When told of the MESN predictions Elvenking ignored the question and ended the conversation by walking into the clubhouse.
This year does promise some excitement with the return of the 5 Starting Pitchers and 4 of the 5 Relievers from the bullpen. The new addition is Reliever Tigtai Tämir, a Lefty called up from the Taur e-Ndaedelos Woods AAA Team. "He has the Stuff, but whether he can produce the Movement on the ball remains to be seen.
In the field the Infield has remained intact with one minor exception, First Baseman Galaigast 'The Chef' Faromli will replace First Baseman Valin 'Dinger' Graniteslinger at the 1B position with Graniteslinger filling the Designated Hitter role. Elvenking explained that he wanted to give Graniteslinger a chance to concentrate on his hitting which slipped a little last year. Additionally they will be joined by Utlity Infielder Uujjeen 'Great' Maker to round out the Infield.
In the Outfield Left Fielder Minto 'The Admiral' Gamwich has become the defacto hands down leader with the departure of two veteran outfielders Celaum and Gameahir. Joining Gamwich in the outfield will be Center Fielder Loinar 'Oats' Oathsmelter, Right Fielder Denaigol 'Hitman' Denaihir, Right Fielder Thurlla 'The Arm' Norà, with backup outfielders Center Fielder Malin 'Whalen Malin' Brandybuck and Left Fielder Gabghash 'Gash' the Crazy.
One thing is for certain, the Marauder Fans will get their money's worth the entire season.
