Rockbinder (BRE) and Dwarfcrawler (GH) win Player of the Week award
MIDDLE EARTH - Bree's centerfielder Ralin Rockbinder had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Shire Conference Player of the Week. He had an on base percentage of .438 and hit .414, while driving in 10 runs. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 10 game hitting streak right now. While compiling an on base percentage of .403, Ralin hit .323 and slugged .671. He has collected 48 runs batted in this year. Grukak Dwarfcrawler wins his 3rd Player of the Week award. Mordor Conference pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Grukak went 10 for 23 (.435), while hitting 2 HR and collecting 11 RBI. Grukak is hitting .321 this year, with 53 hits in 165 at bats. He has driven in 42 runs, slugging .606.
Rohan's Iseomer out for 8 weeks
ROHAN - Rohan is without its left-hander Legeron Iseomer for at least 8 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Gollagast Filmamir in his first game back from the DL against Isengard on May 21. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being taken to a local hospital, Iseomer was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Pulled Tricep Muscle. This season Iseomer compiled an ERA of 2.28, going 1-2 in 5 starts. He fanned 25 while giving up 17 hits in 23.2 innings. Legeron has pitched one shutout and one complete game.
Boreathor Boraulf turns in great performance against Lake Town
RIVENDELL - Boreathor Boraulf had some fun again on May 21. Lake Town hitters did not. Rivendell's left-hander gave up just one hit in his 1st shutout of the season. He now has 20 career shutouts in 154 games started. Boraulf (6-2) struck out an astounding 13 and walked 3, throwing 75 of 117 pitches for strikes. 'My catcher called a very good game. I have to give credit to him.' Goreogorn Gollaund provided Rivendell with the offense Boraulf needed as he stroked 3 hits in 4 AB, blasting a homerun, doubling twice, scoring two runs. Rivendell scored 9 runs on 13 hits.
Zuthor Toviel blanks Bucklebury with a 2-hitter
BUCKLEBURY - Carrock's right-hander Zuthor Toviel is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Bucklebury found out the hard way on May 16, getting just 2 hits. Toviel 2nd shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 5th shutouts in his career. Toviel (3-3) fanned 6 and walked 3, throwing 110 pitches. 'Pitching a great game is always a good thing. And it doesn't get much better than today.' Greogrin Goragol helped Toviel at the plate, he went 2 for 3. Carrock scored 1 run on 6 hits.
Gandogast Fadrier fans 15 batters against Rivendell
RIVENDELL - Lake Town hurler Gandogast Fadrier proved once again that he is one of the premier pitchers in the league. On May 19, he fanned 15 Royals, becoming just the 9th pitcher to accomplish the feat.
Dryadpoker pitches a 3-hit shutout against Minas Tirith
MINAS TIRITH - Mirkwood pitcher Grikak Dryadpoker ran his record to 5-2 with a 6-0, 3-hit shutout against the Titans on May 19. Dryadpoker, who fanned just 2 but walked none, was in total control for the entire game, pitching his 10th career complete game.
Corchado pitches a 3-hit shutout against Old Forest
WILDERLAND - Jason Corchado ended his 6-game losing streak in style, blanking the Old Forest Merry Fellows on 3 hits in the young rookie's first complete game shutout. Corchado (2-6) gave up just 3 hits and 2 walks in the 3-0 win.
Arwodur pitches a 3-hit shutout against Bucklebury
BUCKLEBURY - Cheese starter Ban Arwodur pitched his first shutout of the 2007 season, setting down the Fairies on 3 hits in a game on May 21. Arwodur fanned 8 Bucklebury hitters in the 5-0 win. This was the 16th complete game and only the 4th shutout of his career.
Alu swipes 4 in one game
MINAS MORGUL - His batting average may be a dismal .191, but Dagorlad star Marus Alu still knows how to swipe a base or two or three or four! Alu took second 4 times in a game on May 22 against the Slayers, tying a record for the most stolen bases in a game.
