Lake Town's Gnomekicker wins Player of the Week award
MIDDLE EARTH - Lake Town's leftfielder Nuukor Gnomekicker had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Shire Conference Player of the Week. He hit .542 with 8 RBI and slugged .917 in 24 at bats. Grey Havens' centerfielder Anson Banks had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Mordor Conference Player of the Week. Anson pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .636 with 1 HR and 3 RBI while slugging .818.
Misil Orebearer blanks Weathertop with a 2-hitter
NUMENOR - Numenor's left-hander Misil Orebearer is a great pitcher. And on June 18 he once again showed his stuff, blanking Weathertop on just 2 hits. It's his 2nd shutout this season, and the 2nd time he has done it in his career. Orebearer (8-0) was overpowering, fanning 12 while walking 1, throwing 109 pitches. 'Giving my team a chance to win is the most important thing for me. I was able to do it today.' The hitting star for Numenor was rightfielder Disil Axesmith, he finished with 2 hits in 5 AB, with 2 RBI. Numenor improved its record to 46-24, scoring 4 runs on 10 hits.
