Marauders Trade Deneadur

Mirkwood
MIRKWOOD - In a surprise move, Mirkwood officials announced the trade of star pitcher, Denaumir Deneadur, to the Fairies on June 20. Even more of a shock, Deneadur, known as "Iceball" to fans, heads to Bucklebury in exchange for a pair of minor leaguers just days after he ruptured an elbow ligament, putting him on the DL for at least 3 weeks. The good news is that his injury is not permanent. The bad news, at least for Dwarf Division teams, is that he remains in the Shire Conference.

Deneadur struggled early this season, but was beginning to turn things around, winning 4 of his last 5 decisions. He was 3-0 with a 1.66 ERA in June. The lack of confidence Mirkwood management places in his return to form leaves many analysts wondering if there is more to the trade than meets the eye.

Denaumir has always been a power pitcher. After he was signed by the Marauders to a minor league deal in 2003, he blew away 251 batters for the double-A Eryn Lasgalen Old Forests. In 2004, he moved up to the AAA Taur e-Ndaedelos Woods and struck out 243. Then in 2005, in what some consider the year he should have won the Frodo Rookie award, he went 19-9 with Mirkwood, fanning 314 Shire Conference hitters. Last season he won the Bilbo Playoff MVP award after he struck out a record 20 Rohan batters in Game 4 of the Return of the King Series.

Arriving from the Fairies will be hot young prospect, Rundin Bloodytooth, and minor league second baseman, Tonak Nosethrower. Bloodytooth, 20, is a highly touted pitcher with a bright future. The 1st round pick of Dagorlad in 2006, he arrived in Bucklebury in a trade of 1st-rounders with the Disaster in April. Nosethrower was the 2nd pick of the Miners and came over to the Fairies in May for Virgil Proudstaff.
