Season ending injury strikes Carrock's Rider
CARROCK - Carrock's second baseman Trik Rider will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Carrock and Rivendell on July 19. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment it happened. But suddenly Rider collapsed in pain and had to be carried off the field. Rider was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, a Torn Posterior Cruciate Ligament. He has hit 16 bombs while batting .390 this season. His 134 hits and 36 walks add up to a .451 on-base percentage. He's 1st in the Shire Conference in batting!
Player of the Week honors go to Graniteslinger and Chubb
MIDDLE EARTH - The Shire Conference's best player of the week was Mirkwood's Valin Graniteslinger, who wins the award for the 5th time in his career. He hit .441 with 14 RBI and slugged .794 in 34 at bats. This year Graniteslinger drove in 85 and scored 51 runs while batting .256 with 21 taters. He's 3rd in the Shire Conference in RBIs and 7th in homeruns! The Mordor Conference's best player of the week was Minas Morgul's Tanta Chubb, who wins the award for the 2nd time in her career. Chubb helped her team with an average of .464 and 6 RBI in 28 at bats.
Perian Moraden socks five hits for Carrock
MINAS TIRITH - Carrock's centerfielder Perian Moraden accomplished a difficult feat in a 19-2 win over Minas Tirith on July 22, drilling five hits to improve his career batting average to .258! His 4th hit, a two-run homerun off Meraudoc Isugol in the 8th inning, cleared the fence in right field. A 368 foot drive to right field marked his 5th hit, a three-run homerun off Meraudoc Isugol in the 9th inning. He had singles in the 4th, in the 5th (two RBIs) and in the 7th inning. Perian scored 4 runs, and he collected 7 RBI as well! His 5 hit performance increases his batting average to .239. Carrock improved its record to 52-44, scoring 19 runs on 20 hits.
