Toviel of Carrock, Rohan's Irontearer named Pitchers of the Month
MIDDLE EARTH - The best month of July in the Shire Conference certainly had Carrock's right-hander Zuthor Toviel, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. He struck out 32 hitters in his 6 starts, putting together a record of 4-0 while pitching 32 innings. His ERA in July was 1.85. Zuthor pitched a shutout as well. Zuthor has a record of 7-8 this season, with an ERA of 3.74. In 137 Innings he was able to strike out 89 batters. Zuthor has pitched 3 shutouts and 4 complete games. It's the 3rd time that the Mordor Conference Pitcher of the Month award goes to Rohan's pitcher Libur Irontearer. His record of 3-0 in 5 was among the leagues best this month. In 32.2 innings of work he allowed just 19 hits while striking out 34, compiling an ERA of just 0.83. His ERA of 2.45 helped him to a 14-3 record this year. He struck out 152 and walked 30 in 161.1 innings. He's 1st in the Mordor Conference in ERA and 1st in wins!

Red hot Denaihir and Rockback win Batter of the Month award
MIDDLE EARTH - It's the 1st time that the Shire Conference Batter of the Month award goes to Mirkwood's rightfielder Denaigol Denaihir. Denaihir helped his team with an average of .455 and 28 RBI in 88 at bats. Denaigol has gone 118 for 350 (.337) this season, hitting 8 homeruns and driving in 56 runs. He has scored 60 runs on his own. He's 9th in the Shire Conference in batting! Rafur Rockback of Rohan wins his 3rd Batter of the Month award for putting up the best numbers in the Mordor Conference. In 77 at bats he hit .377 with 10 HR and 28 RBI. He has hit 26 longballs while batting .321 this season. His 109 hits and 52 walks add up to a .415 on-base percentage. He's 9th in the Mordor Conference in batting, 6th in homeruns and 3rd in RBI!

*Nosegobbler (BYW) and *the Looter (DM) win P.O.W. award
MIDDLE EARTH - The Shire Conference's best player of the week was Bywater's Neegar *Nosegobbler, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. Neegar pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .440 with 3 HR and 9 RBI while slugging 1.080. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 8 games. It's the 1st time that the Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Dead Marshes' second baseman Mauhur *the Looter. He had an on base percentage of .519 and hit .500, while driving in 9 runs. *the Looter has walked 38 times this year and posts a .371 OBP. While batting .308, 121 for 393, he has driven in 56 runs.

Hoisil Goldfist punishes Dagorlad with five hits, cycle
DAGORLAD - Hoisil Goldfist hits 'em where they ain't. Dagorlad certainly agrees as Weathertop's centerfielder unloaded five hits and hit for the cycle on July 30. A single in the 1st off Gromwakh the Masher accounted for his 1st hit. His 2nd hit was a RBI double off Gromwakh the Masher in the 3rd inning. In the 4th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Gromwakh the Masher. Hit number 4 followed in the 6th inning, a RBI triple. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! A triple off Vrsigar Stoneraper in the 9th inning, accounted for his 5th hit. Hoisil scored 4 runs, and he collected 4 RBI as well! He now has a total of 46 hits this season, accounting for a .254 batting average. He becomes the 15th player in league history collect at least a single, double, triple and a homerun in a single game. Trik *Rider was the last player to hit for the cycle, doing it 5/12/2007.

Wonai Trollprodder dominates Isengard, gives up just 2 hits
ROHAN - Isengard's hitters looked uncomfortable, and Rohan's Wonai Trollprodder didn't help them. The southpaw fired his 2nd shutout of the season on July 29, a 2-hitter. Trollprodder (8-6) struck out 6 and issued 3 BB, throwing 67 of 124 pitches for strikes. 'Wow, what a nice day. I guess I had a good breakfast today.' The hitting star for Rohan was catcher Rafur Rockback, he stroked 3 hits in 5 AB, hitting two dingers, doubling once, scoring 2 runs and collecting 5 RBI. Rohan improved its record to 54-47, scoring 14 runs on 18 hits.

Elrond *Hubbard on fire, crushes three
CARROCK - Elrond *Hubbard was in a groove on July 29, and the results spoke for themselves. He powered Old Forest to a 11-5 win over Carrock by homering three times. A pitch from Nilcair Nilcarion in the 1st inning left his bat for a three-run homerun, landing 366 feet from home plate in right field. His 2nd shot, a two-run homerun off Nilcair Nilcarion in the 3rd inning, cleared the fence in left field. Number 3 in the 9th inning, a shot estimated at 398 feet, cleared the wall in right field. Overall he stroked 3 hits in 4 AB, scoring FOUR times and driving in 7 runs.
