Foxburr and Eowöldor win Player of the Week award
MIDDLE EARTH - Minto Foxburr from Bucklebury wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Shire Conference. Minto pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .542 with 1 HR and 6 RBI while slugging .875. While compiling an on base percentage of .446, Minto hit .354 and slugged .549. He has collected 83 runs batted in this year. He's 4th in the Shire Conference in batting and 7th in RBI! The Mordor Conference Player of the Week award goes to Gandaudur Eowöldor, Isengard's starting leftfielder. He had an on base percentage of .483 and hit .400, while driving in 11 runs.
Gandaudur Eowöldor slams 4 HR
ISENGARD - Gandaudur Eowöldor was in a groove on August 7, and the results spoke for themselves. He powered Isengard to a 15-1 win over Dagorlad by homering four times. His 1st blast, a solo homerun off Gromwakh the Masher in the 1st inning, landed an estimated 396 feet from home plate. Number 2 in the 4th inning, a shot estimated at 375 feet, cleared the wall in right field. A pitch from Isthor Elóldor in the 6th inning left his bat for a solo homerun, landing 446 feet from home plate in center field. In the 8th inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Franak Derroeater. Overall he stroked 4 hits in 5 AB, scoring FOUR runs with 6 RBI. He becomes only the 2nd player to hit 4 HR in a game and the 1st in the Mordor Conference to do it. Arweogast Belaraviel hit 4 on 7/10/2003 when he played for the Bag End Bombers.
Mirkwood's Ballscarer severely injured
MIRKWOOD - Mirkwood's catcher Curt Ballscarer suffered a serious injury on August 7 when he was struck by a pitch from Bree's Arweolbo Arweoden. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Ballscarer will probaby miss 5-6 weeks. Mirkwood wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Ballscarer had suffered a Broken Cheekbone. Curt has gone 134 for 380 (.353) this season, hitting 7 bombs and driving in 58 runs. He has scored 61 runs on his own. He's 4th in the Shire Conference in batting!
