Two Towers Series Recap

MIDDLE EARTH - The Conference championships are finished, and the final two teams are set to face off in the Return of the King Series. One of them, Mirkwood, will be looking for their third straight League title. The other, Grey Havens, will be going to the big show for the first time ever.

Grey Havens defeats Misty Mountain, 4-1
MISTY MTN - The Grey Havens Stars bested the Hops, winning their first Mordor Conference pennant, 4-games-to-1. In Game 1, the Hops won in 10 innings, thanks to a homer by Sruukor Mansmasher. But the next 3 games were dominated by Grey Havens bats. They won Game 2, 14-3, with Begrin Starsley smacking 2 HR and collecting 9 RBI! Game 3 went to the Stars, 11-6, and Starsley struck again with a grand slam in Game 4. Grey Havens won Game 5, 5-1, and go on to meet Mirkwood in the Return of the King.

Mirkwood wins third straight Shire pennant
MIRKWOOD - The Marauders, who are the defending League Champs, entered the playoffs in the unfamiliar position of Wild Card. That hasn't stopped them from fighting their way to the RoTK for the third season in a row. They defeated the Lake Town Archers in 7 games to advance to the League championship series. It didn't look so good for Mirkwood after the first two games, however. The Archers won Game 1, 4-1, on great pitching by Gandogast Fadrier. In Game 2, they used their bats to come out on top, 10-6, despite an outstanding 2-HR day by Mirkwood's Mohair Catsquisher. The series moved to Lake Town, and Geadriel Gamialf outlasted Gwomer Grailas, 1-0. Mirkwood evened the series at 2 games apiece, winning Game 4, 10-5. Game 5 was all Mirkwood, with the Marauders winning 12-2, including a grand slam by Denaigol Denaihir. The Archers fought back in Game 6, pummelling Mirkwood, 11-1. Finally, in Game 7, in the bottom of the 9th, Mirkwood's Thauthor Smeand hit a 2-run double to win the game and the championship.
