Shire HR Leader Calls It Quits

OLD FOREST - Power-hitting outfielder, Elrond "L-Train" Hubbard, has informed Merry Fellows management that he wants out of his contract. After leading the Shire Conference in homers with 48 last season, the 2006 Frodo Rookie award winner and All-Star has decided that he'd rather pursue another calling.

"I'm going off to write self-help books," Hubbard said. "If I'm lucky, they'll sell really well, and I'll develop a cult-like following."

Old Forest officials were considering several options to take with Hubbard, including a lawsuit. However, after discovering that he has a younger, more talented brother, L. Rond Hubbard, and getting him to agree to join the club, they decided to let Elrond go without a fuss.
