Sanchez sets single game triples record
MIRKWOOD - Javier Sanchez hasn't proven to be the greatest hitter in league history. At the age of 22, he was pressed into service as the Wilderland right fielder, making the jump directly from the single-A Hithlum Stallions, and he has struggled to show his real talent. In a game against the Marauders on June 16, he displayed some of the power and speed that Warg scouts saw when they signed him in 2003. Sanchez broke the league record for triples in a game with a 3-hit, 4-RBI performance. His first (a shot down the right field line) came off Mirkwood starter, Grikak Dryadpoker, with the bases empty in the 2nd. In the 5th, he hit another one in almost the same spot, scoring Iseogrin and Glilmalad. His 3rd triple came in the 7th inning off reliever Tigtai Tämir. It was a long drive to the gap in right-center, and it scored Glilmalad and Schmidt. Sanchez is now hitting .236 with 12 HR and 38 RBI on the season.
