Mordor Wins Allstar Game in Extra Innings
BREE - The Mordor Conference made it 4-2 in the All-Star series with a 10-inning win over the Shire at a packed Bree-Land Ballpark. It was an exciting game, marked by a last minute Shire rally and a rash of ejections by home plate umpire, Rocky Trollbrain.
The Mordor squad came out swinging right from the start, scoring 2 runs immediately on a HR by Numenor's Imredoc Gwildur. For a long time, that was it. The Shire couldn't get any hitting done against Mordor pitching.
In the 4th, Mordor added another run when Isengard's Olorin Orithil scored on a single by Meroman Legeolbo of Numenor. That made the score 3-0.
The Shire's first chance to score came in the bottom of the 4th when they loaded the bases with 1 out against Numenor's Gollogrin Gaum. But Carrock catcher Greogrin Goragol hit a smash back to Gaum, who threw out Rivendell's Loopy Squishmasher at home. After Minas Tirith's Grimli Goramir grounded out, the threat was ended.
The first ejection of the game came in the 5th, when the Mordor DH, Dagorlad outfielder Gamilas Eowil-Galad, was tossed for arguing a strike three call.
Bucklebury's Pimth Galdor made the score 3-1 with a solo homer in the 7th, a 441-foot shot down the left field line.
With 1 out in the bottom of the 9th, Mirkwood's Galaigast Faromli pinch hit for Galdor and was rung up on another questionable call by the ump. Shire manager, Thranduil Elvenking, got himself tossed from the game for the second year in a row by arguing the call. Then, with 2 out, Wilderland's Lor Coalspear singled to right, and Goramir launched a blast to deep right-center to tie the score at 3-3.
In the 10th, the Mordor team struck the final blow. Isilborn Imrilron of Minas Morgul tripled down the right field line with 2 outs and scored when Moria third baseman, Gabzog the Obtuse, fielded a hot smash off the bat of Weathertop's Gorema Gollailob but threw the ball away. When Dol Guldur's Betsie Bats was called out on strikes, Mordor's Arwen got herself ejected, as well.
The final score was 4-3. The winning pitcher was Faredur Faraithor of Numenor. The loser was Bucklebury's Imrohil Haleogast. The player of the game was Gwildur.
