Rohan Sends Rockback to Shire

ROHAN - In a move designed to get some younger talent and relieve payroll pressures, the RoughRiders announced a deal with the Griffons that would send catcher Rafur Rockback to Gondolin in exchange for pitcher Andrack Antslammer and a third round draft pick. Rohan also agreed to pay Gondolin $40 million to cover the remaining years on Rockback's salary.

Rockback, 30, has been one of the two best hitting catchers in the Mordor Conference (Isengard's Boran Armormasher being the other). The 1st pick of the Palantir Stones in 2003, Rafur is a 4-time All-Star and 2-time Legolas fielder. He is currently in the top 10 in career RBI (591), doubles (209), and triples (39).

Antslammer, 25, has been in the Griffons' minor league organization for a number of years. He got a shot at the bigs at the end of 2007, putting in some fine relief work which earned him a job in the starting rotation this season. He is 4-3 with a 4.01 ERA in 15 starts.
