Two Towers Series Recap
Bucklebury wins 1st Shire Championship since 2004
MIRKWOOD - The Bucklebury Fairies became the Shire Conference champions for the first time since 2004 by defeating the reigning league champion Mirkwood Marauders in 5 games in the Two Towers Series. In Game 1, ace Fabur Beardcutter held Mirkwood bats in check and the bullpen stopped a late-inning rally to secure a 5-4 victory. Game 2 saw Bucklebury homers give the Faires an easy 7-2 win. In Game 3, the Fairies did more hitting and former Marauder, Denaumir Deneadur, held his old team to 1 run, as Bucklebury took a commanding 3-0 series lead. Mirkwood fought back in Game 4, winning a classic pitchers' duel with a bottom of the 9th RBI by Mohair Catsquisher. Finally, in Game 5, Torg Shinsnapper dominated Mirkwood, allowing no runs over 8.1 innings, and Scarlett Mawaan blasted 2 HR to win the title for Bucklebury.
Kings return to Series by defeating Raiders in 6
NUMENOR - Numenor used its superior pitching to attain their 3rd Mordor Conference championship, but not without Isengard putting up a fight. In Game 1, after a 2-run HR by Isengard's Boran Armormasher in the 8th put the Raiders on top, Numenor's Disil Axesmith drove in the game tying run with a single and Boli Armormaker drew a bases-loaded walk to win the game. Game 2 was another come-from-behind victory in the 8th, as pinch hitter Meroman Legeolbo scored on a sac fly and Armormaker drove in another run for Numenor. In Game 3, it was Isengard's turn to comeback. After Numenor tied the score with 3 runs in the 7th, Isengard's Flordor Eärämbor tripled in a run to give the Raiders the victory. Game 4 was one of the best pitched games of the postseason thus far, as Numenor's Gollogrin Gaum hooked up with Isengard's Maggek Footstomper. Footstomper only gave up 3 hits and didn't allow a run in 8.1 innings. Gaum scattered 6 hits, including a 3rd inning homer to Gandaudur Eowöldor, in 7 innings. In the 9th, the Kings tied the score on an RBI single by Theo Nering, and they won it in the 10th with a hit by backup infielder, Thuus Serith. Isengard forced a Game 6 when Vriurk Stargobbler shutout the Kings on 8 hits in Game 5. Finally, Numenor got the Mordor crown when ace Prilak Hammershaker won Game 6 by a score of 3-1.
