Two-time MVP Retires
MINAS MORGUL - Thaira "Goldie" Lómebrildur, the only player to have won the Aragorn MVP award in both conferences, has retired at the age of 36. Lómebrildur had a brilliant career that started when she was the 1st pick of the Mordor Mimes (now the Minas Morgul Slayers) in 2003. She won the 1st Mordor Conference MVP award that year, hitting .320 with 46 HR and 114 RBI. In 2005, she was traded to Bree, where she began a 2-year run at Shire Conference pitchers. That year, she won both the Shire MVP and Sam Gamgee Batter award, hitting .326 with 44 HR and 142 RBI. Injury and age took its toll in 2007 when she was released by the Cheese. The Slayers picked her up for old-times sake, but she never played for them. Currently, she is the only player under consideration for entry into the SGCBL Hall of Fame.
