Elfbelly announces retirement

LAKE TOWN - Hidush "Hi-jinx" Elfbelly, a senior member of the league, has announced that the 2009 season will be his last. Hidush, 38, was Mirkwood's 5th pick in 2003 and went on to become a solid starting pitcher for the next 5 seasons. With age, Elfbelly was consigned to the bullpen the last couple of seasons, but the Archers had him in their starting rotation at the start of this year. Elfbelly has a career record of 69-61 with 3 saves, a 4.38 ERA and 605 strikeouts. He won a Legolas Award in 2005.
