Rohan Trades Chiselsnapper
ROHAN - The RoughRiders, looking to improve their bullpen, made a deal with Mirkwood that sends power hitting third baseman, Genus Chiselsnapper, to the Marauders in exchange for pitcher, Gilberto "Solar" Solis. Chiselsnapper, 27, was the 11th pick of the Palantir Stones (Rohan) in 2003. He has had his ups and downs with the team. In 2003, he was a homerun star, belting 44 dingers and driving in 96 runs. A trade with Cirith Ungol (Minas Tirith) the following year, however, brought Gobur Foetooth to Rohan, relegating Genus to a backup role. He was back as the starter in 2005, but despite winning the Bilbo Playoff MVP award, after hitting a dismal .193 in 2006, he was sent to the minors. He knocked in an astounding 82 HR for the AA Highland Colts in 2007 and was back in the majors. Still, his batting average has been a concern.
Solis, 28, was a minor leaguer for Misty Mountain from 2003 until he was released by the Hops in 2005. The Marauders picked him up in April of that year, and he performed extremely well for their AA Eryn Lasgalen Old Forests. He got his big chance in 2008, appearing in 26 games and earning 18 saves.
