Merry Fellows crowned League Champs!

NUMENOR - It was a thrilling, 7-game series between the Old Forest Merry Fellows and the reigning champs, the Numenor Kings. In the end, the Merry Fellows had just enough gas in the tank (and enough surprises up their sleeves) to pull off the upset, as the Shire Wild Card team bested the Kings at Numenor.

In Game 1, Numenor came out with a fresh pitching staff to face the Merry Fellows' tired hurlers. Old Forest had just come off a 7-game Two Towers Series with Mirkwood, giving their pitchers only a day to rest. Numenor's Prilak Hammershaker pitched his usual stuff, and the Kings won it, 9-3.

The Merry Fellows struck back in Game 2, winning it 8-5. In Game 3, the Old Forest team took the series lead with Frodo Chubb's 4th victory of the post season. And in Game 4, they looked like they had finished Numenor, winning it 11-6.

But the Kings didn't quit. A 2-run HR by Thuus Serith and a solo shot by Imredoc Gwildur in the 10th inning gave them the Game 5 victory, 11-8. Moving back to Numenor for Game 6, the Kings' Dolok Bonemangler pitched a gem, and the Merry Fellows were shut out, 3-0.

Finally, in Game 7, with their pitching staff on the ropes, Old Forest started Gromwakh the Masher from out of the bullpen. Mash delivered, pitching 7 innings and only allowing 1 run. But it took 9th inning heroics for the Merry Fellows to win. Trailing 3-2 with 1 out in the 9th, Cinquefoil "Homer King" Boartooth unloaded a game-tying shot to deep right-center. Then, catcher Ugbag Blacktooth drove in 2 more runs with a 2-out double. Sauron the Evil, Jr., came in to close out the 9th for the victory.
