Gamaiborn-Bridger traded

BREE - Disappointed with the performance of power-hitting first baseman, Gandaugrin "Doggy" Gamaiborn, the Cheese sent him over to Minas Morgul in exchange for Slayers reliever, Hildibrand Bridger. Neither Gamaiborn nor Bridger have lived up to their teams' expectations, and it is hoped that a change of scenery will do them good.

Gamaiborn, 27, was Dunharrow's 4th pick in 2003 and went immediately into the Devils' starting lineup at age 20, where he hit 36 HR and had 80 RBI, but batted only .243 and struck out 154 times. The following year, he was traded to Bucklebury. In 2006, a torn calf muscle put him out for the season in April, and he was shipped to Bree. His batting average improved dramatically, and he hit .290 with 35 HR and 99 RBI for the Cheese in 2007. He won the 2008 Legolas Fielder award at 1B in 2008, but only hit .199 that season. And, despite being selected to the 2009 All-Stars, he has continued to be a 20 HR, 70 RBI, .200 hitter.

Bridger, 29, also came up through the Dunharrow organization, being used as a part-time reliever in the majors starting in 2004. Then, in 2007, the Devils began to rely on her so much that she pitched 104 games that year and 117 games in 2008. Dunharrow traded her to the Slayers in 2009, where they tried to turn her into a closer with fair success, as she went 5-9 with 26 saves and a 2.87 ERA in 72 games. So far this season, however, she is 2-5 with 12 saves and a 6.26 ERA, prompting a move out of the closer role.
