Interconference Play Begins

MIDDLE EARTH - July 6 marks the start of the first interconference regular season games in league history. Until now, the only opportunity fans from the Shire Conference had to see teams from Mordor was during the playoffs. This year, each team will get to play every team in the opposing conference at least once during the regular season.

The inaugural matchups look to be pretty good. Though some teams are voicing concern over their schedule. For example, Old Forest is at Grey Havens. With the Merry Fellows trying to stay in both the Elf Division and Shire Wild Card races, a meeting with the red hot Stars is probably the last thing manager, Kigush Eyeslobberer, wants right now. Rivendell, likewise, is on a roll and has Mirkwood in her sights in the Elf Division. However, a meeting with the Hops at Misty Mountain might put a damper on Royal fans enthusiasm.

Other matches have playoff-like feel to them. The nearly unstoppable Lake Town Archers head to Numenor to take on the mighty Kings. Numenor has been on its usual lackluster start to the season. Will this be the beginning of their pennant run? Or will Lake Town put them down for good?

Meanwhile, Minas Tirith plays Dead Marshes, as both teams struggle to get back to their winning ways. Mirkwood is at Dunharrow. Bywater takes on Lothlorien. Gondolin goes to Rohan. It's Wilderland vs. Weathertop, Bree vs. Dagorlad, Bucklebury at Dol Guldur, Carrock against Isengard, and Moria vs. Minas Morgul.
