MIRKWOOD - There was a celebration today in the Marauders Clubhouse. Initially everyone had gathered to congratulate Catcher Curt 'The Bat' Ballscarer on his recent MVP award. There was a din of excitement and accomplishment from the 2010 season. Even though the team lost in the ROTK series to the Slayers they knew they had been beaten by a better team.
Owner Cableman and Manager Thranduil Elvenking and several others of the Marauder management were ecstatic that they had come to an agreement with Ballscarer early in the season so he could conscentrate on his game. They were both unusually talkative (I think it was the champaign) and made several congratulatory speeches extolling the players for their efforts to get as far as they did. Although it was very noticible that the pitching staff was mostly left out of the back-slapping.
Elvenking announced that the management had decided to make some changes, and that is when Drogo Gamwich (Minto's twin brother) showed up. Elvenking announced that a trade had been made with the Carrock Bears for Drogo and he would be joining Minto in the outfield for the 2011 season. The players traded were outfielder Mefur Orchead, starting pitcher Resil Rocksmelter, and reliever Kimah Elorfithien.
Cableman welcomed Drogo and then pointed at the pitchers and said, "You have all gotten lazy!. We used to be First in the entire League in pitching and now we aren't even in the top 10. Don't think I won't trade your smug butts if you don't show me something this season." Then he turned to Elvenking and simply said, "Make it so."
At that instant the Gamwich twins poured an entire cooler of Balrog-Ade over Cableman's head and with everyone laughing the party started up in earnest. I think we're in for a long season.
