Shire defeats Mordor, 10-6

MINAS MORGUL - With a capacity crowd of 45,000 in attendance at Blackfield Park, the visiting Shire Conference All-Stars wrecked the Mordor squad, 10-6, narrowing the Mordor lead in the All-Star series to 5-4.

The Shire stepped out to an early lead when Bucklebury's Samwise "The Bat" Peatfingers launched a 370-foot homer into deep right field, scoring Bree's Arwildoc Belebrindil. Mordor came right back with their own pair of runs in the bottom of the 1st with a single from Dagorlad's Moraudoc Leguden scoring hometown hero, Isilborn Imrilron, and another RBI off the bat of Rohan's Thudor Nadrierion that scored Isembard Ploughman of Dagorlad.

In the 2nd, back-to-back homers off the bats of Carrock's Nolak Gnollslurper and Minas Tirith's Binus Anvilworker made it 4-2 Shire.

Then, in the 4th, the Shire exploded for 5 runs to put the game out of reach. An Anvilworker single drove in Old Forest's Gollauman Gandihil, making it 5-2. Then, pinch hitter Mo Catsquisher sent a rocket to the gap in right-center for a double, scoring Gnollslurper and Anvilworker, making it 7-2. Balin Bloodspear of the Titans singled home Catsquisher with the 8th Shire run. Finally, Belebrindil doubled home Bloodspear, and the score was 9-2.

Tina Legàl of the Slayers drove home Lothlorien's Razrhot the Smasher in the bottom of the 4th, making it 9-3.

In the 6th, pinch hitter Hudash "Rolling Thunder" Elfprodder of Old Forest sent a solo shot to deep right, giving the Shire a 10-3 lead.

The Mordor team fought back in the 8th when Weathertop's Gorema Gollailob launched a 491-foot, 3-run homer down the left field line, scoring Fosco Bramble of Dunharrow and Minas Morgul's Tanta Chubb. This made the score 10-6, which was the final.

The winner was Lake Town's Geadriel Gamialf. The loser was Parin Saphirecryer of Dagorlad. Binus Anvilworker was named the Player of the Game.
