Bounders Trade Spinner

BYWATER - The Bounders announced a deal today that sends Bugrin Spinner, the talented but injury-prone lefty, to Lothlorien in exchange for pitchers Phaimina Fadrielindė and Cristian Estrella. Spinner, 29, is on the last year of his $17.5 million contract. Despite another disappointing season, he seemed to have turned things around, not allowing an earned run in his last 3 starts and winning the Shire Player of the Week award, but it was not enough to convince ownership to pursue further negotiations on an extension. When their last offer (reported to be worth $90 million over 5 years) was turned down, Bywater management resigned themselves to letting him go.

Spinner has always shown promise, but other than the 2010 campaign when he went 21-7 with a 2.76 ERA, he has spent a lot of time on the disabled list. His lifetime record is 70-80 with a 4.25 ERA in 7 seasons.

Meanwhile, the Lumberjacks decided to move Fadrielindė a while ago. A long-time member of the Lothlorien franchise, she has never been able to put together a great season. Her best was last year when she went 12-9 with a 3.39 ERA, but overall she has a record of 54-81 with a 4.22 ERA. The Lumberjacks took her out of the rotation in July, putting her into the bullpen.

Estrella, 26, is currently working at AAA Lebennin with a 4.93 ERA in 32 relief appearances and 1 start. He was the 3rd pick for Dunharrow in 2005 and has since seen work with Grey Havens, Rohan and Lothlorien.
