Disaster-Slayers meet in tie-breaker for Troll Division

DAGORLAD - After leading comfortably for most of the season, an amazing 14-game winning streak by Minas Morgul and a lackluster showing during the final week by Dagorlad left the Troll Division (and the Mordor Wild Card) in a 95-67 tie at season's end. The Disaster went into the week with a magic number of 3, meaning that any combination of 3 Dagorlad wins and Minas Morgul losses would guarantee them the title. The Slayers didn't lose, and the Disaster did not win 3 games. Not only that, but Misty Mountain, who led the Wild Card race going into the week, faltered and finished 1 game behind the pair.

The two teams met for a 1-game showdown at Dagorlad Memorial Stadium on October 1. Bagdred the Hated (15-11), acquired from Moria by the Slayers in late July, took the mound for Minas Morgul to face off against 19-year-old rookie, Boredriel Elviowyn (10-12). Bagdred allowed 1 run and struck out 12 in the complete game 5-1 victory, while Elviowyn faltered in the 5th, allowing 3 runs, including a 2-run single to Minto Foxburr.

The consolation for Dagorlad is that they will still go on to the playoffs for the 3rd time in their history, and their 95-68 record is the best the team has ever done. Manager Jeff Limke is a likely winner of this year's Elrond Manager Award for the Mordor Conference.
