Old Forest sweeps Lake Town
LAKE TOWN - Before a packed house of 60,000 Archer fans, the Old Forest Merry Fellows finished off a sweep of Lake Town on October 8 with a 8-4 win. The Merry Fellows won games 1 and 2 on the arms of 20-game winners, Frodo Chubb (22-3) and Sjors Cheeseslicer (20-12), and closer, "Bee Bee" Boreagrin. They took Game 1, 4-3, despite a late inning rally by Lake Town. In Game 2, Cheeseslicer shut out the Archers on 3 hits, collecting 10 strikeouts in 8 innings, while Boreagrin pitched a flawless 9th. Game 3 was a complete blow out, with Old Forest scoring 7 runs in the 3rd and going on to win it 16-1. Finally, in Game 4, a 7-run 1st inning, including a grand slam by center fielder, Gollauman Gandilhil, was enough to complete the sweep, 8-4.
The Merry Fellows go on to the Shire Conference championships for the first time since their 2009 dream season when they won the whole thing.
