Mirkwood: Back in the fray? Or just frayed?

MIRKWOOD - The Marauders have had some unprecedented activity going on in the past few weeks. They participated in the Free Agent bidding for the first time since 2008 and have made some pre-season trades for draft picks also. The impetus behind all this activity is not been made clear to the fans yet, but it is rumored that Manager Thranduil Elvenking has his head on the chopping block. The 2012 season was disappointing in that the team barely made the playoffs as a Wild Card contender and had to beat Bucklebury in a one-game playoff to get that. The team is aging and the once dominant minor league system has fallen by the wayside.

The Free Agents the Marauders picked up this year will bolster a faltering pitching staff. They welcomed back MR Disin "The Hatchet" Axesmith to be the inspirational leader. He was one of the original Marauders from the Great League Founding Draft of 2003 and was instrumental in their first 3 Championships in 2005, 2006, 2007. Additionally they will be adding the experience of SP Legan Isauhir and SP Faraind Farailob to the pitching staff. The expected initial starting rotation and bull pen are:

With his head squarely placed under the axe, Manager Elvenking seems to be back to his old coniving self. We do know that he has announced that Catsquisher will be moving back to SS where he started his career. We will be vigilant here at the Scroll in uncovering the choice Elvenking makes for his starting 3B.
